Ex Salford City Transport Leyland Titan PD2 No 3006 WRJ 155 with a Metro-Cammell H36/28F body is seen here at Warrington Arpley working the No 10 route to Manchester which was jointly operated with Lancashire United Transport. The Salford vehicles and their Manchester counterpart were designated to the Central Division of the PTE network when Selnec was formed in 1969. Accordingly, the Leyland vehicles of both the Atlantean and PD2 variants acquired the 3xxx fleet number whereas their Daimler counterpart acquired the 4xxx fleet number when they were renumbered. This strategic method of fleet renumbering was based on the Manchester Corporation principle in order to differentiate between Daimler and Leyland vehicles with identical bodywork within the Central Division fleet.
